Difference Between Large ALF vs RAL

Jan 13, 2023

An assisted living facility (ALF) is a type of senior housing that provides support and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) for older adults who need help with some daily tasks, but do not require the round-the-clock medical care provided by a nursing home.

Assisted living facilities typically offer a variety of services, including meals, housekeeping, and transportation, as well as assistance with ADLs such as dressing, bathing, and taking medications.

A care home, also known as a residential care home or personal care home, is a type of facility that provides accommodation and personal care services to older adults who are no longer able to live independently. Care homes typically offer a range of services, including meals, housekeeping, and assistance with ADLs.

One key difference between a large ALF and a care home is the level of medical care and supervision provided. ALFs typically do not provide medical care or round-the-clock supervision, while care homes often have staff on hand 24/7 and may offer more medical support.

Another difference is the level of independence and autonomy afforded to residents. ALFs typically allow residents to maintain a greater degree of independence and control over their daily lives, while care homes may have more structured schedules and routines.

At MD Senior Living, our niche is geared towards smaller RAL homes where our caregivers can give faster, more responsive care while our physician oversight offers closer medical care and supervision.
